US President Trump says

Iran shot down Apache helicopter and vows to respond

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the United States would respond after Iran allegedly shot down a U.S. Apache helicopter during a patrol mission near the Strait of Hormuz. The incident has sharply increased tensions in the Middle East and raised fears of a wider military confrontation.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump said he had been informed by the U.S. military that Iranian forces brought down the “highly sophisticated” helicopter overnight while it was operating over the strategic waterway. He added that America “must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”

According to early military reports, the aircraft involved was an AH-64 Apache helicopter conducting routine patrol operations near the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. The waterway has long been a flashpoint between Iran and the United States.

U.S. officials confirmed that both pilots survived the incident and were rescued safely within hours of the crash. Reports said a U.S. Navy unmanned sea drone assisted in the rescue mission off the coast of Oman.

The downing of the helicopter comes at a delicate moment as Washington and Tehran were reportedly engaged in renewed diplomatic talks aimed at easing regional tensions. Just days earlier, Trump had expressed optimism about a possible peace agreement involving Iran and Israel.

Iranian officials have not fully accepted responsibility for the attack, though some leaders warned foreign military forces against operating in the area. Tehran has repeatedly argued that the Strait of Hormuz is highly sensitive territory and accused outside powers of increasing instability in the region.

The announcement immediately shook financial markets, with investors reacting nervously to fears of further military escalation. Analysts warned that any conflict around the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt global oil supplies and increase economic uncertainty worldwide.

The Pentagon said investigations into the incident are ongoing, while U.S. military forces in the region remain on heightened alert. Trump has not yet announced what form the American response could take, but officials say the situation remains highly tense and fast-developing.
